Spelling Words:
The new words this week were, best, friend, not and you. Next week will be a review week of 10 of our previous spelling words. It is very important that our friends are able to quickly read and write all of their words. Next week’s words will be: tell, this, they, like, of, with, are, friend, said and saw. I have attached a sheet with fun ways to help your child to continue to practice their words. There will be four new words the following week.
Phonics:
This week your children learned that some consonants go together in a cluster. In consonant clusters each consonant makes its own sound. They worked with this principle through activities with s blend words.
Math:
We continued working with measurement this week. Our mathematicians learned the rules that when measuring you have to line up at endpoints without any gaps or overlaps. In addition, the same length unit must be used. They explored measurement using a variety of tools such as, centimeter cubes and rulers, large and small paperclips and even toothpicks!
Valentines:
This week I sent home notices regarding the Covid precautions for Valentine’s Day. In order for the students to safely pass them out to classmates on Fri. Feb 12th, please send them in on or before next Friday, Feb.5th and please make sure no candy/food is sent in with them. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.
