Spelling Words:

The new words this week were, all, this, did and me.  On Monday, there will be four new words. Next Friday, there will be a 6 word test with the four new words along with this and all from this week.

Math:

This week the children continued working on understanding the relationship between addition and subtraction. Through the use of number bonds and number stories they were able to see that they could solve a subtraction number sentence, such as, 8 – 6 = ? by turning it into the addition number sentence of 6 + ? = 8. They then could use the known strategy of counting on to solve it. This is a foundational standard for first grade math and it can take time for students to become secure with it.

 Open House:

It was great to see so many of you on Tuesday evening! Yesterday, I emailed the presentation home so that you could all enjoy it.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:

On Monday, I will send you each a zoom link for your conference. There will be a waiting room on Zoom in the event you log on early or if my previous conference is not over yet.  If you have a particular question or concern that you would like to discuss during our conference, please send me an email a day or two prior to it and we will discuss it during our conference.
